OUR STORY
ECLC opened its doors in 1998 and started with humble beginnings – three classrooms, three teachers, and three students! We grew by word of mouth because students loved the personal attention they received and the high academic quality of the classes. Students trust us – we deliver what we say we will – and they know they will be treated with respect and kindness. Our staff members all adhere to the same important values because they are also passionate about the support and success of our students.
In 2016, ECLC was approved by the province of Nova Scotia to become a Private Career College, and East Coast International College (ECIC) was born. The college currently offers the ACE TESOL teacher training certificate and a Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) certificate program.
Donna-Lynn Leblanc and Sheila Nunn were the owners of ECLC until 2021, when we became a subsidiary of the Oxford International Education Group (OIEG). This was a positive move for our school and college as it allowed us to become part of a bigger team, with schools in Toronto, Vancouver, New York, and San Diego. Sheila remains as part of the ECLC/OIEG team and works closely with the new School Director, and both are supported by an amazing team of administrators, instructors, homestay families, and other partners. These relationships are the key to ECLC’s success and its reputation as a well-respected leader in the language training community.
